The Nautique 230 boat wrap was completed under a two week deadline. After conceptualizing the design with the client, both side designs were started with a pencil and paper. There were a lot of specifics within the concept itself ranging from creating depth to show the shipwrecks in the background to extraneous elements provided by the client. Three type treatments were created for the design with the client’s final choice seen in the photos. The wrap company did an excellent job with the artwork and was able to work in a few ideas such as reaching the squids tentacles up to and over the windshield and side of the boat.

The Stories of Survival CD concept is derived from a raven graphic from a personal design experiment. The design was soon to become the cover and poster art for the CD. Each page design in CD insert is correlated specifically to the lyrics listed on the page. Having the chance to listen to the tracks while designing made for the unique experience of implementing my own interpretation of the songs. Actual lyric text was incorporated into each page in a handwritten script on book images, creating a consistent feel throughout the book in regards to the title of the album: Stories of Survival. www.authorityzero.com

The Endgame illustration began with sketching and vectoring each piece found on a chess board before deciding to use the knight. My objective with the illustration was to design the piece with a bit of personality without being over the top. All elements in the design were hand drawn or based off of references (logo provided by the client). The final design was done in three different versions using various colorways and elements.

The Claddagh Illustration began as a concept for a chest piece. The design was based off of the concept of an Irish Claddagh ring using my own interpretation. As a work in progress the design has very fine details. Work will continue on this piece and I have currently finalized the concept. In regards to the concept, the design is about 40% complete.

Sputnic BMX provides a lot of creative freedom as well as extremely one-off concepts. As a designer this forces me to push the envelope in conception and execution. Each of the designs displayed were done as individual type treatments incorporated into the graphics. The designs have been applied to Sputnic’s apparel line, signature frames and other products.

Motion designer Brian Castleforte commissioned me to do my own personal paper toy for his Hedkase line of paper toys. Being new to paper toy design, the process soon became: design, print, cut-out, fold, glue, and repeat. The floor of my office soon became covered with paper cuttings. Designing the Hedkase toy presented me with a new perspective and appreciation for this area of design.

The commissions for the two jersey designs were received back to back. The Wales jersey concept was to incorporate the Welsh dragon found on the country’s flag. The dragon was illustrated to provide the university’s paintball team with a logo and branding materials and later incorporated into the overall design. The Rush jersey concept was based on black bear found in the upper southern US. The bear illustration was created and blended into the overall design regarding specific requests from the client. The final design was printed in various shades of blue which could be seen from a distance on the field and off.
